WET’N WILD EMERALD POINTE, the Largest Water Park In The Carolinas’ celebrates the beginning of summer with a fun-filled family opening on SATURDAY, MAY 25TH at 10:00AM for the exciting 29TH SEASON!  (Opening Weekend is May 25, 26 and 27…operating hours are 10:00am-5:00pm each day.  Open daily beginning Saturday, June 8th, 2013.  Final operating day is Labor Day Monday, September 2nd, 2013)

This season, WET’N WILD EMERALD POINTE proudly announces the introduction of the all-new SOAK ZONE water spray area!  The new half-acre SOAK ZONE attraction includes a 7,000 square foot interactive water play area featuring over 35 different water elements!  SOAK ZONE is designed for exciting water spray thrills for the entire family with specialty themed seating and shaded areas, providing a waterfall of relaxation and fun for ALL ages!

Boaters invited to movie night on Lake Wylie every month this summer

This summer, boaters on Lake Wylie are invited to a monthly movie night on the water.

Each month, from May to August, Lake Wylie Marina is presenting a free family-friendly movie for all boaters in the area to enjoy.

The movies will be displayed on a 50’ by 30’ screen, with FM transmitters providing sound through your boat’s speakers.

This month’s movie will be held Friday, May 17, around 8:30 p.m., or sunset.

York County families are invited to come out to “iVenture”, a fun-filled event where parents and kids can enjoy the great outdoors while discovering new activities together.  The event is free and will take place on Saturday, May 11, at Westminster Park located at 4000 India Hook Road in Rock Hill, from 10 a.m.

Who wants to Go Pro with Steve Smith?

Every year, thousands of young football fans dream of breaking the huddle with hero Steve Smith. Showmars, a proud sponsor of Steve Smith’s Football ProCamp, is making that dream a reality for four Charlotte-area children this summer.

Showmars is giving away four spots to the 2013 Steve Smith Football ProCamp. Football fans can sign up by filling out an entry form at any of Showmars 28 Charlotte-Metro locations.

ProCamp is a youth athletic camp for children in grades 1- 8. Established in 1998, the camp provides thousands of youth the opportunity to attend camp with their sporting heroes. At the camp, attendees learn football fundamentals and meet children their own age with like interests.

This year’s ProCamp event will be held at Ardrey Kell High School on Monday, June 10, and Tuesday, June 11.

Knights introduce Commemorative Brick Program

The Charlotte Knights revealed details about their BB&T Ballpark Commemorative Brick Program, which will give Knights fans a chance to become a part of history, at a press conference held at the BB&T Ballpark site Wednesday.

The personalized ballpark brick will be prominently featured and preserved at the main entrance to BB&T Ballpark in Uptown Charlotte. A portion of the proceeds will benefit Charlotte Knights Charities.

“A new era in Knights baseball will begin with the move to Uptown Charlotte in 2014,” said Knights Executive Vice President, Chief Operating Officer Dan Rajkowski. “This state-of-the-art ballpark will give fans that ultimate game-day experience. For a limited time, we are offering our loyal fans a unique chance to personalize a commemorative brick to become a permanent part of this ballpark’s history for generations to come. BB&T Ballpark will be a community asset – used and shared by the community.

Northwestern baseball looking to break thru

ROCK HILL, S.C. (WBTV)- The Northwestern baseball team is at it again.

The regular season is over and the Trojans find themselves at 23-2 as they claimed their 6th straight region title.

But now comes the playoffs for Coach Mitch Walters' team which start Thursday when they host Easley.

The Trojans have made it to the Upper State Championship the last 3 years only to lose each time.

The program has NEVER won a state championship, but this team is confident they can get the job done this time around.

Dogs invited to special hike

Dogs invited to special hike

The McDowell Nature Preserve is inviting the public to a special hike this weekend.

Hiking with Hounds gives hikers the opportunity to bring along their dogs.

The program also offers the chance to learn about dog etiquette while on the trail.

Park officials advise bringing water for hydration. Participants should also have waste bags and a 6-foot non-retractable leash.

Interested hikers should meet at the McDowell Nature Center, located at 15222 York Road in Charlotte, Saturday April 13, at 2 p.m.

The cost is free, and the hike is open to the public. Only one dog allowed, per registrant.
