Miller Pond "surrenders" to Rock Hill annexation

Miller Pond "surrenders" to Rock Hill annexation

ROCK HILL - For more than six months, the folks in the Miller Pond area have been battling over water and annexation with the city of Rock Hill.

Neighbors have decided not to appeal a judge's ruling, making it official Wednesday that their neighborhood will be annexed into the City of Rock Hill.

Neighbors went out the same way it came in... together.

"We are here today to basically surrender," Homeowners Association President David Griggs said as he marched into City Hall with twenty neighbors by his side, signed papers in hand. "We signed because there is a gun to our head and we just cant afford the risk to our families to further this fight."

Rock Hill unveils plan for new downtown development

ROCK HILL - In ten years, the view from the municipal parking lot in downtown Rock Hill will get a major face lift.

"We’re going to refer to this as of now as the Downtown East initiative," said Rock Hill Mayor Doug Echols.

The city of Rock Hill has partnered with Comporium Communications announcing Tuesday a multi-million dollar economic development plan for the downtown area near Main street and Elizabeth Avenue.

"Apartments, condominiums overlooking the park and we’ve already gotten some calls from people and developers calling us," said Glen McFadden, with Comporium Communications.
